SET BESIDE Albemarle Sound, it was established in 1728 as the first colonial capital of North Carolina. Edenton was also home to many Revolutionary patriots — as well as the haunt of the infamous pirate Blackbeard. You’ll want to stroll along our shady streets past handsome period homes and historic landmarks. The inn is located at the heart of the Historic District, and the center of town, with its irresistible boutiques, antiques shops, and fine restaurants, is just a block away.

There is so much to do here! You can arrange fishing and sailing trips at the docks, only two blocks from the inn. Kayak rentals are available for exploring Edenton Harbor or Queen Anne Creek. The Visitors Center offers exhibits and guided walking and trolley tours to discover the rich biography and architectural diversity of the Historic District. For an activity filled daytrip, head for the beaches of the Outer Banks, visit famous Jockey’s Ridge, or the North Carolina Aquarium.

For something more leisurely, the nearby historic plantations are a great diversion, and our gentle country roads are just right for biking. There’s musical theatre in the evening, as well as the famous Lost Colony outdoor drama, just a short drive away. We will be happy to help you plan sightseeing and dining throughout this beautiful and storied corner of North Carolina. Come fill your days with a flurry of fun activities, or simply stay here, unwind, and read a good book on the porch.
